Dee Dee Mayer Appointed as University Chaplain

黑料爆料 has appointed Dee Dee Mayer as University chaplain within the Hub for Spiritual Life, effective May 1, 2026. Mayer, who has served as interim chaplain, will continue ministering to the Pepperdine community through pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and programs that nurture faith and spiritual formation.

As University chaplain, Mayer supports Pepperdine鈥檚 Christian mission by fostering spiritual growth, worship, mentorship, service, and community. She serves faculty, staff, and students, and as a liaison to local church communities.

鈥淒ee Dee has faithfully served our community with wisdom, compassion, and a deep commitment to the spiritual formation of our campus,鈥 said Tim Spivey, vice president for Spiritual Life. 鈥淗er leadership reflects the heart of Pepperdine鈥檚 Christian mission, and I am grateful for the ways she continues to guide and encourage our community.鈥

As interim chaplain, Mayer has worked with faculty, staff, and students to support members of the Pepperdine community through prayer, pastoral counseling, and spiritual mentorship. She also collaborated with University leadership and members of the University academy to help ensure that spiritual care remained an integral part of campus life. Her ministry will continue to include supporting members of the community through illness, personal hardship, and family crises while helping foster a sense of spiritual connection across the University.

鈥淚 am honored to step into the role of University chaplain and continue serving the Pepperdine community,鈥 said Mayer. 鈥淭his is a place where faith is not only taught, but lived through investment in building relationships, deep learning, and shared commitment in living for greater purpose. I look forward to continuing to walk alongside our faculty, staff, and students as we seek to grow in wisdom, faith, and care for one another.鈥

Mayer will serve part time as senior director of the Boone Center for the Family鈥檚 RelateStrong program until August 1, 2026.

Mayer holds a doctor of ministry from Azusa Pacific University and is a licensed clinical social worker in California, with more than 20 years of experience in organizational leadership and program development within academic and ministry settings.

鈥淒ee Dee has made a lasting impact on the Boone Center over the past four years,鈥 said Kelly Haer, executive director of the Boone Center for the Family. 鈥淲hile she will be deeply missed, I am excited about the ways her work as University chaplain will intersect with the work of the Boone Center.鈥

Prior to joining the Boone Center, Mayer served at Oaks Christian School in Thousand Oaks, California, for 12 years in a variety of roles, including associate head of school for spiritual life, Bible faculty, and spiritual life director. Grounded in her love for Jesus and His Church, she integrates clinical practice with theological conviction to support leaders and congregations in developing healthy relationships and growing toward maturity and unity in Christ. Mayer is a published author, a regular guest on , and a sought-after public speaker.
